Pavla Bratska Reed

is also know for her work as "Pavla" and "Pavla Hanzlikova". Pavla is a graduate of: The College of Industrial Arts, Prague, Czech Republic:

and The College of Film Arts and Film Production, majoring in Production and Camera and Sound Technics

 

Pavla spent eight years at the Academy Award Winner Animated Cartoon Studio "Bratri v Triku" in Prague, working for Zdenka and Gene Deitch.

 

After fleeing from then communist Czechoslovakia, Pavla started her career as an exhibiting artist, working mostly in watercolors and was quickly recognized as a fine portrait artist in Northern Bavaria.

 

In the mid-eighties, Pavla crossed "the Big Pond", bringing her reputation as a fine artist to Canada and continued painting and exhibiting as well as accepting numerous portrait commissions.

 

March 13, 1993 marked a milestone in Pavla's life when she visited the small town of Crystal River, Florida and survived the infamous "No Name Storm", met her future husband, Captain Fred Reed, and made her new home in Florida, embracing the Nature Coast as reflected in her new art dimensions.

 

Today, Pavla's paintings can be found widely around the world, in private collections and galleries in Germany, Czech Republic, Canada, the USA, Japan and Britain, including Westminster Palace, London.
